Public Law Proceedings
Deborah has considerable experience of care proceedings, including those with an international and inter-jurisdictional element.
Her practice is balanced between representation of Local Authorities, parents, children and family members.
She has regularly conducted cases in the High Court and Principal Registry, and appellate proceedings.
Her experience covers the spectrum of cases involving complex medical issues, alleged non-accidental injury, sexual abuse, neglect and physical and emotional harm.
She has a particular interest in cases where there are mental health and capacity issues.
Private Law Proceedings
Deborah has many years experience of representing parents in cases which involve disputes over their children, whether the issue relates to ‘child arrangements’ or a financial dispute.
She is acutely aware of the difficult nature of these proceedings for clients, and the need for sensitivity balanced with very firm and focused advocacy.
Divorce and Matrimonial Finance
Deborah has significant experience of representing clients in ancillary relief proceedings.
Her practice encompasses cases which involve significant assets and high profile clients, including the lead singer of a well known pop group and a famous international balloonist.
She has particular experience of cases involving farms and agricultural businesses.
She is also instructed in cases with more limited assets and liabilities but which are as important for the client.
In all cases, Deborah is convinced that a conference with the client at the earliest opportunity in proceedings is invaluable and is able to travel to solicitors’ offices to meet with and advise the client.
Deborah has a very ‘hands on’ approach and is willing to advise, both formally and informally, by telephone or in writing at any stage of proceedings.
