Jason regularly appears at all stages of both public and private law proceedings in the Family Court, including the High Court. In the sphere of public law, Jason has successfully represented local authorities, parents, grandparents and children in contested interim care hearings, IRHs, applications for further assessments (P25), contact hearings and multi-day contested Final Hearings. He is a confident and dedicated advocate. He has a particular expertise in representing parents in care and adoption cases and was recently successful in the return of a child to her mother under a supervision order where both the LA and Guardian sought care and placement orders. He is often asked to represent particularly vulnerable clients and victims of abuse. He also undertakes cases of a human rights nature.
Jason is regularly instructed in the High Court in cases involving international parental child abduction, forced marriage, emotional abuse, allegations of sexual abuse, fabricated illness and serious physical abuse (often with linked criminal proceedings). He has developed expertise in dealing with complex medical evidence. Jason was recently instructed in a successful twelve-day fact finding hearing in respect of allegations of physical chastisement in the West Country.
In private law matters, Jason is regularly instructed at all stages of proceedings, in the Family Court and High Court, including appeals. Matters where Jason has acted include fact-finding hearings containing the most serious of allegations, including sexual abuse, rape, forced marriage and cultural disputes. He has undertaken injunctions under the Family Law Act, cost applications and issues regarding change of surname, school and both internal and international relocation. He has particular expertise in cases that involve cross family and immigration issues.
Jason has also recently successfully concluded a complex 10-day private law children action and has experience in cases involving the appointment of R16.4 Guidelines. He is able to provide prompt written advice in all areas of family law.
Jason is particularly praised by solicitors for being a tough negotiator with a no nonsense style. He is popular with clients for his thorough and patient approach to family proceedings.
In civil and commercial cases Jason has over twenty years of representing claimants and defendants in all types of litigious actions. In the county court and high court. He acts in professional negligence actions (and against solicitors), breach of contracts actions, personal injury, TOLATA, housing and boundary disputes.
