Manan accepts instructions as counsel in civil and commercial litigation matters including:

He has represented clients in a wide range of Company and Partnership disputes, Directors and Shareholder disputes, Fraud and Insolvency cases.

His cases have included representing a company against whom arbitration proceedings had been brought for specific performance of a sale and purchase agreement relating to their business with a value of US$35 million.

  • Banking and financial services disputes

Having worked in the commercial and banking departments of international law firms, Manan has unique expertise in dealing with financial and loan documentation and disputes related thereto.

Manan has acted for corporate and individual clients against major banks and financial institutions including RBS and Credit Suisse on the recovery of their financial investments and other dealings with such banks.

  • International disputes

Manan has acted in multi-jurisdictional court proceedings including as global co-ordinating counsel in a long-running litigation with a value of £75 million in cross-border proceedings in England and 4 other jurisdictions.

He has also represented clients in arbitration proceedings in the English Court as well as the Paris & Dubai seats, including representing a leading franchisor in the MENA region in arbitration proceedings (Paris seat), and in subsequent English court proceedings.

He works with:

Litigation

Manan often acts in an advisory capacity, working with clients to trouble-shoot matters with a view to dispute avoidance. At the other end of the spectrum, he has represented clients in high-value cases including contract disputes, director and shareholder disputes, civil fraud and insolvency proceedings.

Arbitration

Manan has represented clients in international arbitration matters before forums including the ICC, LCIA and DIFC-LCIA most recently touching upon cyber fraud, franchise disputes, licensing issues, manipulation of accounting policies and misappropriation of funds.

Mediation

Having completed a specialist qualification in Mediation Advocacy from the Society of Mediators, Manan has an impressive track record of achieving settlements through mediation prior to or during the litigation process.
